Flower Painting Workshop with Gage Opdenbrouw

Join our featured artist, Gage Opdenbrouw, here at Horse & Plow on Saturday, July 27 from 12 to 3pm for a special flower painting workshop! From the artist:

I’m very happy to offer a rare session workshop on the fundamentals of painting flowers from observation– one of my deepest reasons for painting is the joy of noticing the magic of noticing, as we look, and look again, more deeply; painting can give us a wonderful opportunity to slow down and notice more and more as we translate our observations into paint.

We will paint outdoors under a beautiful old oak tree at Horse & Plow in Sebastopol, and you’ll be able to soak up my current solo show, “Mirror in the Garden”, a selection of recent oil paintings made since I had the good fortune to  relocate from Oakland to a secluded home and studio in the redwoods of West County Sonoma a few long and joyous years ago.

The show includes many paintings made in our garden as flowers danced in the spring wind and shifting light, and the ravens croak, inviting me always to sink deeper into the richness of the always fleeing, always stable, always ineffable present moment.
